Another Story Behind the Story

There's been nothing but silence from the pen with which I write my blogs these past couple months. But even in the weariness and dark shadows of sorrow there has been a sweet gift. Our family, with the help of an amazingly talented illustrator, just released the second book in our Tails of Ivy Lane Series entitled Eden and Emmet.

Last year I shared about the story behind Sadie's Stitches. You can find that here. The Story Behind the Story of Sadie's Stitches. Today I want to share with you a little more about Eden and Emmet, as so many of you have been such sweet encouragers along the way. Since our Abigail left, her brothers and sister continue to grieve her absence; they always will. As the direction for our series started to shift I allowed each of them to offer input on "their" stories. Thus, the birth of Eden and Emmet. The story within the pages of this book are based upon the memories of one of my sons. He expressed the desire to include sweet memories with a lesson on honesty and forgiveness.

It is absolutely heart-wrenching to watch my children ache for their sister. Watching our stories become books has been like adding fireflies to a jar of sorrow. The sorrow isn't gone, but the little flicker of light adds a sweet glow.

Thank you to our readers and to those who have offered feedback, talent, or encouragement along the way. Our hope is to provide literary resources for grieving children, specifically those carrying sibling grief. All proceeds from the sale of Sadie's Stitches and Eden and Emmet go to making this endeavor a reality. For now, we pray the insert in the back of our stories reassures children in similar circumstances they are not alone.

*Links to purchase copies of either book  can be found below. I truly love to hear about children's reactions to our stories, so please feel free to share those in a review or with me personally.
